Four Letter Word
About
A tiny, warm Logan Square café run by a specialty roaster that splits its time between Chicago and Istanbul, pulling bright, fruity espresso.
What to order: An espresso of the house roast, with a pastry from Beacon Doughnuts
Four Letter Word is a specialty roaster with one foot in Logan Square and the other in Burgazada, one of Istanbul's islands, and its Diversey Avenue café is where Chicago gets to drink the beans at the source. The room is small and warm, the kind of place that feels like a relief to walk into, and the espresso, pulled on a Kees van der Westen machine, leans fruity and bright. Pastries come from Beacon Doughnuts and Publican Quality Bread. The roaster's coffee also turns up at other cafés around town, including Prequel in West Town.
